Harrow Theatre Dance teachers

Emma Bowles 


Tap and Modern Teacher

Emma began her dance training at the age of 6 at Pinner Theatre Dance.


She qualified as a dance teacher at the Margaret Howard Theatre School and is also a Primary school teacher.


She performs twice a year with Harrow Light Opera Company in various musicals, and has played roles such as Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady) and Peggy Sawyer (42nd Street).


She taught for Harrow Theatre Dance (previously named Harrow Ballet School) for 10 years before taking over as Principal. 

Alexandra Taylor Brown

Ballet Teacher

Alexandra began dancing at Greenford School of Dance at the age of 2 in tap and ballet before moving on to Spotlight School of Dance where she started studying modern, jazz and musical theatre.


She trained at Margaret Howard Theatre College and Linda Sweetzer Teacher Training College to complete her teacher training in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Commercial Street Dance.


She has also been a member of Holy Cross Players Pantomime from the age of 5, and played a variety of roles including Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and a dwarf in the shows raising money for charity.

Marta Micallef

Ballet Teacher

Marta began her training at Pinner Theatre Dance at the age of 4 in modern and tap; and has also studied ballet and hip hop at other schools in the local area.


She trained at the Margaret Howard Theatre Collegeand is qualified in Ballet, Tap and Modern. Marta also holds a BAHons in Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. This has lead her to work as a scenic artist on productions for West End Theatre’s like the London Coliseum and Noel Coward, as well as on overseas productions for New York and Shanghai.

Sarah-Jane McKenzie

Ballet Teacher

Sarah-Jane began her dance training at Hertsmere Performing Arts Academy, doing Ballet since the age of 5 and Musical Theatre from the age of 8. She continued her passion at West Herts College studying Dance for 2 years and graduated in Musical Theatre and Dance from Margaret Howard Theatre College.

She is currently performing with Urban Interface Dance Company doing many shows and competitions. Sarah-Jane has also been teaching Ballet for all ages and levels since 2016.

History of the School

Wendy Gandolfi took over the ballet classes that were taking place in St George's Church Hall in 1967 and renamed the school 'Harrow Ballet School'.

  She built the school up by offering annual shows at the hall and introducing tap classes. In 2000, her husband Mario got more involved in the school by making the costumes for the shows and was pivotal in making the school thrive.

Wendy handed the school over to Emma in 2017 shortly before she passed away. She leaves behind a legacy of beautiful, confident young ladies with a passion for dance.
